He works across the commercial and market dimensions of battery energy storage, with a particular focus on how storage can support the integration of renewable generation and participate effectively in the Irish market.
Before joining ElectroRoute, he worked at both SEMO and EirGrid, gaining experience from both the market and system operator perspective and developing a strong understanding of Ireland’s electricity system and market.

Rory works across the commercial and market dimensions of battery storage, with a particular focus on unlocking the value of flexible assets in increasingly renewable power systems. His work spans the development and delivery of storage projects, market participation and optimisation, and understanding how battery assets can best respond to the changing requirements of electricity markets. His focus is on developing new product structures and commercial models that can unlock contracted revenue opportunities for BESS developers in an increasingly uncertain and complex Irish electricity market. This includes identifying innovative routes to market that can provide greater revenue certainty for storage assets while aligning with the evolving needs of the Irish power system.
Prior to joining ElectroRoute, Rory held roles with both SEMO and EirGrid, giving him experience from both the electricity market and system operator perspectives. This has provided him with a broad understanding of the Irish electricity system, including the interaction between market design, system operation and the commercial realities of participating in an increasingly flexible and renewable power market.
